TO LISTEN
I think one of the most encouraging compliments I commonly receive from people, especially close ones, is being told, “You are such a good and gentle listener.” And this thought came to me, not out of plain admiration but simply from a place of genuine accountability on my own part. Something to continuously strive for. A constant form of reflection that when we listen to others with a straightforward focus, a careful attention, we offer a piece of a sincere part of our hearts. We flow out empathy even when we sometimes go through our own challenges. In that way, people's tender edges are soothed and softened because they feel listened to, heard and validated. It has long been a prophetic methodology that brings hearts together and an insightful art we continue to work towards.
